Beaminster Left Behind by Bus Services

1 Apr 2023

As services are slashed across the country, rural areas are at risk of being left behind. For many older residents and people without cars, this can mean being isolated.

Additionally, it is also important to have good public transport links to reduce people’s reliance on cars.

In Beaminster, the number 6 bus no longer calls at St James or Gerrards Green. This results in residents having to walk along dangerous roads with no pavements to get to a bus stop.

Edward Morello said:

We welcome Dorset Council’s decision to alter the timetable for the number 6, but that does not fix the root of the problem. Buses in Beaminster, and most of West Dorset, are too infrequent to be an option for many. We all want to see less cars on the road, but this has to involve more frequent buses to more locations.
