Lib Dems stand up for Bridport's most vulnerable
Bridport Town Councillor Bev Thornton is leading work to help people in our community who are homeless or at risk of losing their homes. Bev has been visiting nearby towns and cities, including Weymouth and Exeter, to see how their services help people find a safe place to stay and get the support they need. She has also been working closely with local charities such as The Bus Shelter, Julian House, and the Lantern Trust, as well as Dorset Council’s homelessness team.
Bev said, “It has been both interesting and encouraging to see the work other towns are doing to support the homeless
into housing, and also to be on a town council which cares and wants to resolve the issue in Bridport.”
This work is part of the council’s new Housing Working Group, which aims to create a clear plan to help people in Bridport.
The project was inspired by the growing signs of people sleeping rough, in tents or cars, and the increase in people having to sofa-surf with family and friends.
Your Lib Dem town councillors are taking this issue seriously and working hard to find solutions to support those in need.
