Liberal Democrats emerged clear winners after last nights Borough Council elections.
Lib Dems substantially increased their share of the vote in yesterday's Local Elections. What turned out to be a good night for the Tories and a devastating night for Labour revealed a consolidation of the Lib Dem position in Local Government and showed the country that 3 party politics is here to stay. The Liberal Democrats took a bigger share of the vote than the Labour party, a resounding message that the next General Election is more likely than ever to result in a hung parliament.
Liberal Democrats have achieved a higher vote share than in the General Election a year ago - coming ahead of the Labour Party for only the second time. The BBC projected national share of the vote:
A new shuttle bus service will be launched in the autumn that will take holiday-makers from Leicester straight to Nottingham East Midlands Airport.
Congleton Lib Dems held on to many of their key seats in Congleton Borough and increased their vote in many other seats. It was a disappointing night for Congleton North West and Simon Davey lost his seat to the Conservatives as did Ray Lowe in Astbury, by a nail biting 1 vote! Ray is a very well respected community activist and a County Councillor. He has worked hard for the people of the Borough and will continue to do so for his County constituents.
