Farron slams overseas Premier League plans

Local MP Tim Farron has today tabled a Commons Motion criticising the recently published plans from the Premier League for one extra game per club to be played abroad in the 2010-11 season. Mr Farron sees the commercially driven plans as a slap in the face for loyal season ticket holders who would not be able to afford the long distance trip to such far flung destinations as Hong Kong and Shanghai.

An ITV Meridian report into the state of Kent roads has highlighted a £170 million backlog in repairs to local roads. Folkestone Lib Dem Councillor Tim Prater and AA President Edmund King were interviewed by Sarah Saunders of Meridian.

"Foundation Trust" Status for East Kent Hospitals - Public Meeting

The East Kent Hospitals Trust have announced that they will be applying for Foundation Trust Status in 2008. East Kent Hospitals Trust is one of the largest hospital Trusts in the country, providing services from five hospitals and several outpatient settings. There will be a public meeting in Folkestone to discuss the proposals on 25th February.

Mental health nurses face attacks

More than half of nurses on mental health wards have been physically attacked, a survey suggests. Nurses working with older people are the most likely to be assaulted, the joint Healthcare Commission and Royal College of Psychiatrists report said.
