A house containing the latest technology to help people with disabilities live an independent life has been unveiled in Cornwall. The SMART house is the latest innovation by Tremorvah Industries, which is run by the county council.

Youth games exclusion 'unlawful'

Children with learning disabilities will no longer be left out of the UK schools' equivalent of the Olympics after a threat of legal action. The Equality and Human Rights Commission has told the organisers of the UK School Games that the exclusion was discriminatory and unlawful.

Exercise aids depression, say GPs

Doctors are increasingly prescribing exercise for people with depression, mental health campaigners have found. In a survey of 200 English GPs, the Mental Health Foundation found 22% suggest exercise to help people with milder forms of the condition.

The Liberal Democrat Eastleigh Borough Council is always keen to support local community groups and the Hilldene Community Association is one such group. They run the Hilldene Community Centre which hosts various regular activities like Brownies, Yoga, Scrabble, Philosophy, Keep Fit, Weight Watchers, as well as being available for parties, weddings and training groups to hire.

Poll shows a quarter of UK Population strongly oppose ID Cards

The number of people strongly opposed to the introduction of a national identity card scheme has risen sharply, according to the results of an ICM poll. The poll shows that 25% of the public are deeply opposed to the idea, raising the prospect that the potential number of those likely to refuse to register for the card has risen. Overall, 50% of people are against the idea of ID cards and 47% are in favour. The survey also shows that the majority British people say they are "uncomfortable" with the idea that personal data provided to the Government for one purpose should be shared between all Whitehall-run public services.
