Elderly people with dementia could be tagged to make it easier to track their movements, a minister has proposed. Science Minister Malcolm Wicks told the BBC the satellite technology could enable them to lead fuller lives and would reassure their families. He said it would give sufferers, who often experience memory loss, "freedom to roam around their communities."

Rochdale Council has joined 2 other Greater Manchester Authorities in withdrawing support from Congesting Charging. This follows the failure of Labour Transport Bosses to reveal exactly how much and where they plan to charge. The withdrawal of support came after Transport Bosses failed to meet a deadline of Friday 13th April to reveal the details.
Rochdale Liberal Democrats have committed to prioritising a new first class arts venue in the centre of Rochdale. Talks have been ongoing for several months about a suitable venue, it is believed that a site close to the Town Hall has been identified.
