Operation Stack (the closure of sections of the coast-bound M20) is again bringing chaos across Folkestone and Hythe. Phase 1 of Operation Stack (M20 closure Eastbound from J11 to J12) has been in place since yesterday as cross-channel services were disrupted by high winds. The Prime Minister also stepped up his involvement in the future of the bank, demanding personal updates from the Government's advisers at Goldman Sachs. At the extraordinary general meeting yesterday, Northern Rock's rebel shareholders failed to win key votes they hoped would block a fire sale of assets. SRM Global and fellow hedge fund RAB Capital also used the meeting to lay the blame for the crisis squarely with the Bank of England.

But a woman who turns 60 on 5th April 2010 or earlier with the same 30 years National Insurance contributions will get a state pension of £67.23 - losing more than £20 a week. That reduced pension will cost her on average about £25,000 over the rest of her life.
After a sustained campaign by Councillor Pat Brooks, Waltham Abbey Town and District councillor, a 40 mph speed limit in Parklands has been introduced. 'I was delighted to see the 40mph signs go in' said Pat. 'This is a busy road with houses each side and I hope the speed limit will make it safer.'
