This of course contrasts very strangely with his claim that from 1997-2007 the (credit fuelled), economic boom we enjoyed was all because of his actions as Chancellor and none of it was due to international events!
David Chappell was invited to be one of the readers of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in Bury St Edmunds at a special Unitarian Church Service on 5th October 08. The occasion was non-political with Deputy Mayoress Margaret Charlesworth signing the declaration on behalf of the people of Bury St Edmunds. Other readers from Amnesty International and Siffre too part in the reading, and Tory MEP Christopher Beasley attended.
Henry Vann, Bedford and Kempston parliamentary campaigner for the Liberal Democrats, has highlighted statistics released by the Department for Health that reveal that Bedford health trusts have a worryingly high level of bed occupancy.
Local campaigner Rosie Sharpley says, "This dossier clearly shows how the Conservatives are not green on the environment. They are just blue - as they have always been. Bus services in Woking are cut each year by Surrey's Conservative-controlled County Council and bus fares keep going up. How is this 'green' Conservative Party policy?"
The council tax system is flawed and the Tories' plan doesn't address the long term problems.
Like everyone else in the country, residents of Woking are suffering from rocketing food and energy prices.
