Safety cash for mental unit women

Mental health units in England are to get £30m to improve the safety of female patients and cut the numbers of sexual assaults, the government says. A report by the National Patient Safety Agency earlier this year said there had been 19 allegations of rape.

Today members of the Bowl liaison panel and local councillors were given a briefing on the Rose Bowl proposals for the final development of this important site in West End. The aim of the proposal is to both improve the facilities for visitors to Rose Bowl and to decrease the impact on the local community.

Thousands of health workers protest over the Labour's handling of the NHS

Health workers from across the country demonstrated yesterday against the Government's handling of the NHS. NHS Together, an alliance of 16 health unions, protested over what it says is "unprecedented upheaval". The protest follows thousands of job cuts across the country and comes as a poll of 2,000 people showed over half believed the NHS had got worse in the last decade.

Young people behaving…well!

Local MP Tim Farron will meet later today with the Grange Youth Group and the Crusader Youth Group. The groups aim to provide young people in Cumbria a chance to meet together constructively and safely, as well as combating the problem of anti-social behaviour in the area.
